Accommodation

Each of the houses has its own front door, a living room with adjoining kitchen, a single bedroom with adjoining shower room and a small courtyard at the rear.

When a vacancy arises, applicants who are shortlisted are interviewed by a panel of trustees who then make a decision.

The criteria for selecting residents are contained in a Scheme of the Charity Commission made in March 2000 which requires applicants to be:

born or resident in Lincolnshire including the city of Lincoln

not less than 55 years of age

in need and

members of the Church of England or of good standing in another Christian denomination.

Residents occupy their houses as beneficiaries of the Charity and do not have security of tenure as tenants. The Trustees may terminate their appointment although this is rarely, if ever, done.

A Weekly Maintenance Contribution is payable monthly toward the upkeep of the house and provision of services: these include monitoring and assistance from the resident Warden and an emergency alarm call system. No TV licence fee is paid by residents over 65 who do not work for more than 15 hours a week.  Laundry facilities (available in the Communal Centre) and communal broadband are available for a modest additional charge and the Weekly Maintenance Contribution is reviewed annually.

Residents pay for their own gas, electricity, Council tax and water rates.

If residents need personal care to maintain their independence it must be obtained from an outside agency.
